TOP GUIDE TO FUN ACTIVITIES IN MONTENEGRO

Porto Montenegro is in the heart of UNESCO protected Bay of Kotor. It’s a jewel in the Balkans, with several luxurious and sophisticated lifestyle amenities, such as having a 450-berth marina as a central Mediterranean location – making it a prime place to berth your yacht! There’s also a luxury residential village offering premium real estate, for sale and rental; world-class gastronomy, bars and a luxury five-star hotel. The list is endless! Read on to find out more about the top 10 cool things to do in Porto Montenegro.

1. Go Shopping

From swimwear to evening wear, shoes and accessories, Porto Montenegro’s luxury shopping village features brands such as Cartier, Chloe, Diane Von Furstenberg, Dior, Dita, Dolce & Gabbana, Dries Van Noten, Gucci, La Perla, Ralph Lauren, Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, Valentino and so many more. Not only are there Ready-to-Wear and Resort collections, but there are also many limited-edition pieces on offer.

2. Pool-ish Pleasures

Soak up the sun and splash around. No summer in Montenegro is complete unless you have spent an afternoon by the famous 64 metre infinity pool at the luxurious Yacht Club designed by architect Richard Hywel Evans and a 3-metre-high sculpture entitled “8 Possibilities” by Catalan artist Jaume Plensa. At the foot of the pool, there is a summer restaurant which provides a menu of poolside classics with an Italian twist, delicious cocktails and international wines.

3. Stay at a Luxury Hotel

If there’s one hotel we recommend booking your holiday at it’s the Regent Porto Montenegro Hotel brings a blend of grace and grandeur to these glittering Mediterranean shores. The dazzling buildings and gardens hold the essence of the region’s glamorous location and rich culture. The style’s reminiscent of grand Italian palazzos, infused with Regent’s world-renowned hospitality.

4. Go Sailing

Boka Bay is the largest Bay in the Adriatic and offers amazing weather conditions for sailing; more than 200 days of sun a year, combine this with the very deep, still waters and interesting wind patterns, making for champagne sailing conditions.

5. Eat Out

Porto Montenegro has a great selection of restaurants and cafes that offer everything from traditional local cuisine to Italian, Mediterranean and Asian, fine dining to relaxed eateries. Everyone is sure to find something to tantalise their taste buds. We particularly love Panorama Restaurant and Wine Bar for scenic rooftop views and delicious seafood; award-winning Italian – Roberto’s Mare; and Gallardo restaurant, the very first traditional steakhouse in the area of Boka Bay.

6. Take Pictures

Be sure to soak in the spectacular views. Often referred to as the southernmost fjord in Europe but actually a sunken canyon, high mountains that bend around the coastline, plunging directly into the azure sea, the awe-inspiring beauty is truly spectacular. You should definitely bring your camera as there are plenty of places for great pictures!

7. Sightseeing

Staying in the area means you have easy access to the best iconic places to visit such as Lady of the Rocks, Solila Nature Reserve, Budva, Lady of Mercy and The Island of Flowers. All are just a few minutes from Porto Montenegro. Take a short trip by boat and you’ll get to see Montenegro at its finest.

8. Explore Historic Towns

Visit Perast, a peaceful town rich in magnificent history with 17th and 18th century buildings, including 16 Baroque palaces and 17 Catholic churches. Old Town Kotor is a spectacular well-preserved medieval town that’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s home to a mix of Baroque Venetian and Austrian architecture. Both are just 15-minutes from Porto Montenegro by car.

9. Party Time

Looking for a place to dance the night away? Platinum night club is great for those who are seeking a great night life. The notorious club is in the luxurious marina of Porto Montenegro. It’s the place for VIPs coming on their vacation by their yachts. The buzzing and sophisticated atmosphere is similar to the hot spots you’ll find in New York or London. Plush decor, a serious sound system, top barmen and plenty of live entertainment make this a welcome addition to the village. But don’t worry, it’s a far distance from the hotel and residences so you can’t hear a thing.

10. Visit the Naval Heritage Collection Museum

Reflecting the area’s rich maritime tradition, the Naval Heritage Collection is housed in a beautifully restored building and showcases over 300 artefacts, from Yugoslav submarines to the diaries of Montenegro’s Princess Ksenija. Themed exhibitions are displayed throughout the year in addition to the permanent collection pieces; for many though, the star attraction remains the P821 submarine standing proudly across the street from the NHC building.
