Alfie Boe and Lea Salonga headline an extraordinary five-day journey combining world-class musical theatre with the intimacy of a luxury African safari.
There are performances designed for a stage — and then there are those shaped by the place in which they happen.
In August 2027, a new international experience, Spotlight, will make its debut in the South African wilderness, bringing together two celebrated names from the West End and Broadway, Alfie Boe and Lea Salonga, for five days of music, conversation and safari.
Beyond the Stage

Taking place from 7–11 August 2027, Spotlight: South Africa will unfold at Kapama Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger region.
The concept is deliberately intimate. Rather than presenting a conventional concert to a large audience, Spotlight brings a small group of guests and performers together for a shared journey where music becomes part of the destination itself.
By day, guests will explore Kapama’s 15,000 hectares of protected wilderness on private game drives, guided bush walks and encounters with the reserve’s extraordinary wildlife, including the Big Five.
By night, the landscape becomes the setting for something entirely different.
Music Beneath the African Sky

Specially curated performances by Alfie Boe and Lea Salonga will be woven throughout the five-day experience, alongside candid conversations about their lives and careers.
Boe, one of Britain’s most celebrated tenors, is perhaps best known for his acclaimed performances as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. Tony and Olivier Award winner Salonga originated the role of Kim in Miss Saigon and became known to generations as the singing voice of Disney’s Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Fa Mulan in Mulan.
Here, however, there is no traditional separation between performer and audience.
As Salonga explains, “What I love about the idea of Spotlight is that it takes that distance away.”
It is this intimacy that sits at the heart of the experience — music, storytelling and the African wilderness becoming part of the same journey.
Safari by Day, Music by Night

Kapama River Lodge will become home to the Spotlight group, with the programme following the natural rhythm of safari life.
Game drives and wildlife encounters will sit alongside sundowners in the reserve, intimate performances, conversations with the artists and candlelit dinners beneath the stars.
The location is more than a backdrop. Conservation is central to Kapama, whose extensive wildlife protection, research and anti-poaching programmes safeguard one of the Greater Kruger region’s remarkable ecosystems.
For Spotlight, that landscape becomes part of the performance itself.
As Boe puts it: “Safari by day and music by night, perhaps even with a lion roaring in the distance.”
A New Kind of Cultural Journey
Spotlight’s philosophy is simple: “Go beyond the stage and into the extraordinary.”
Following South Africa, further destinations around the world are planned, each pairing exceptional performers with places capable of transforming the way their work is experienced.
For its first chapter, the combination feels particularly compelling: two extraordinary voices, a small group of travellers and one of Africa’s great wildernesses.
Not simply a concert. Not simply a safari.
But something that exists somewhere between the two.
